The same power that raised Christ from the dead on Easter 2000 years ago is available to help me today in my work, in my marriage, in my family, in my relationships. The same power that raised Christ from the dead 2000 years ago is available to help you in every area of your life. That’s good news because sometimes we feel powerless in life. Maybe the stresses and struggles of life have just worn you out. Or maybe recently you feel like you’re being pounded by wave after wave of problems that have sort of created a perfect storm in your life and you feel like you’re going under. Maybe you feel like the disciples did that day when they were out on the boat with Jesus on the Sea of Galilee. A storm came up suddenly. The wind began the howl and the thunder began to rumble and the waves began to crash over the boat and began to fill up the boat. They were about to sink.
So they frantically went to the bottom of the boat where they found Jesus asleep. They couldn’t believe it. They woke him up and then they asked the all important question and it’s the same question I know you may be asking today. They asked, “Jesus, don’t you care?”
Maybe today your marriage is sinking, and you’re wondering, Jesus, don’t you care? Or maybe your business is sinking or maybe it feels like your family is going under and you’re asking, Jesus, don’t you care?
Well Easter proves that Jesus cares. He cares about every storm you go through in life. Not only does He care, but Easter also proves He has the power to do something about it because Jesus got up and He went to the deck and He walked up right on the edge and He lifted up His hand and looked at the wind and the waves and He said, “Peace. Be still.” And the storm stopped. The quietness was deafening. As long as the God of the Universe is in your boat you’re not going under. You may be in the darkest storm of your life, but Easter proved in the darkest storm that there is hope with Jesus Christ in control.
