Great Commission Resurgence

The Southern Baptist Convention, which met June 23-24, 2009 in Louisville, Kentucky, authorized the President of the Southern Baptist Convention to appoint A Great Commission Task Force.  The Great Commission Task Force was charged to bring a report and any recommendations to the Southern Baptist Convention, meeting in Orlando, Florida, June 15-16, 2010, concerning how Southern Baptists can work more faithfully and effectively together in serving Christ through the Great Commission. This motion was overwhelmingly passed by the messengers. The convention hall exploded in applause and a wonderful spirit of enthusiasm and unity flooded the Convention floor.

I want to challenge you to sign up to pray for the Great Commission Resurgence at  Please take a few minutes to explore this entire site. We are 10 months away from our 2010 Southern Baptist Convention meeting in Orlando, Florida. The need for immediate prayer is great. As the Task Force Chairman, Ronnie Floyd has said, “Pastors and staff members need to do everything possible to involve laypersons in this process. Not only do we need laypersons to go, but to pray, and not only do we need them to pray, but to go.”

Quiet honestly, without the Lord’s direction and power upon us, this journey is impossible.
Therefore, spread the word. We need pastors, staff, and laypersons to join us on our prayer journey. God uses everyone, and this is one journey everyone can go on together. While certain matters may be debated in life, church, or convention matters, all of us love to take the gospel to the ends of the earth. Please stand with us in prayer.
